John J. O’Connell, President and Principal, founded LandCo Realty & Development in 2006. John began his real estate career in 1979 as a Real Estate Appraiser after attending Lewis Colege and DePaul University, along with a short stint in the banking industry. In 1981 he co-founded INdCOM Realty Ltd., a firm specializing in industrial and commercial real estate, where for the next 20 years he concentrated on vacant land for development and investment properties.

In 2002 he was hired by ServiceStar Commercial Real Estate as the Chicago Real Estate Manager. ServiceStar is a Denver, Colorado based commercial real estate and development firm. In addition to being the Illinois managing broker, his duties included site selection and analysis for build to suit activities. In April 2005 he was promoted to Executive Vice President of the Midwest Region for the company’s development arm, ServiceStar Development, LLC, where his duties included site selection, managing due diligence and entitlements and overseeing brokerage, leasing, management and tenant representations.
